Yahoo Groups can be a great way to add a community component to your website. They are also great for members-only or client-only driven features of your service. They are free to set up and use and easy to manage. Here’s a quick rundown: (note: click on the images to get a full size version of the screen shot)
1. Go to Groups.Yahoo.com
2. Login if you already have a Yahoo account, if not create one
3. Click on the Start Your Group Link

4. Choose a Yahoo Groups Category
5. Describe your group
6. Select your profile and email address as moderator and owner of the group.

7. Your group has been successfully created. Note the information for the group and then go set additional settings.
8. Click on Customize Your Group to restrict or open settings to your group as appropriate. A wizard will guide you through.
9. Invite people to your group
a. Click on Members on the left hand navigation bar
b. From the top of the member listing choose “Invite People”
c. Enter email addresses
d. Create an introductory message
Now you are all set and ready to get the party started with collaboration and communication.
